What is an encoder?

An encoder is software or hardware that converts from one format or code to another. It is integral in doing live streaming.

Over CMGlive™, you can use any encoder that outputs into RTMP. If you have never used an encoder before or are unfamiliar with what this is, don't feel intimidated. Instead, simply download the software program Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder or Wirecast which is offered on the Encoder Setup page.
